Trisha Kowalewski, Downers North senior shortstop, finished her career as a 4-year starter in the IHSA Regional loss to Glenbard West, 4-1, as she drove home the only run North scored, tying the school record for RBI in a season with 39.
In 2004, Trisha broke her own North doubles record by recording 19 2-baggers. She tripled 4 times and smashed a school record 9 home runs. She also scored 39 runs for her team that scored 147 total.
She ended up batting .509 with a slugging percentage of .991, another school record. She collected 111 total bases, still another school record.
She has already been named All West Suburban Conference for the fourth straight year and was named team MVP for the 4th time as well.
Over the course of her high school career, Trisha played 136 games, scoring 106 runs and driving home another 107 RBI.
Trisha hit 100 singles, 53 doubles, 20 triples and 15 home runs in her North career and is the only player, according to the IHSA records website, to reach these numbers. She batted .454 for her career while collecting 188 total hits and had a .787 slugging percentage.
Trisha finished second in the Sectional IHSA Hitting Derby. She finished 8th in State as a sophomore and second in State last season in the Derby.
